Crunko's Tale

ᗘ 'Crunko's Tale' is a short postironic webcomic I made over my highschool senior year's summer break, featuring the titular Crunko. It's incomprehensible, inherently meaningless and almost impossible to read. Above all, however, it was really, really fun to make.

ᗘ I offer no refunds for the time spent reading this that could be spent on other endeavors, like feeling the sweet and tender kiss of the sun's rays on your skin, enjoying time in the beloved company of your friends and family, or bearing witness to the infinite and ephemeral beauty of the natural world.

That having been said, it's up there.

Author's commentary: The original first page is lost to time, with only crusty fragments of it being present here. It would probably make more sense were there an additional 2-3 of the reconstructed panels.

Author's commentary: The incomprehensible orange text says "damn shawty so we have chosen violence once more". I don't remember why sports balls are behind crunko in the panel.
Most of the backgrounds are composed of horrible things I've done to images of mcdonald's play places.

Author's commentary: I spent way, WAY too long giving crunko a reflection in this one. The image in the final panel are several lumber company logos that have been superimposed over a photograph of the elephant's foot.

Author's commentary: The final panel is a screencap of a halo 1 map. Crunko is upside down here because I gave up on trying to make him fit rightside up.

Author's commentary: Visited areas of note here are the backrooms, the chernobyl nuclear reactor, and the ark 2 private bunker. The transposed, ephemeral clown across the panel in which crunko gets jpegged to hell and back represents embarrasment.

Author's commentary: I like to imagine that the receptionist talks with the microsoft sam TTS. The final panel is an edit of loss.jpeg, the syntax for the stone sound effect is in the 1996 proprietary language Dream Maker, and reality breaks down towards the end of this page because I got bored.

Author's commentary: Lots of surreal backgrounds in this one. In order of appearance: A picture of a dude with trombones I edited onto the png texture, broken glass, what was once a photograph of a slide rule, a modem, lightbulbs, and that one meme of elmo with hellfire behind him. The illegible text says "bismirching the good name of Thomas Caicyllin Mcevoy will be the last misteak(sic) you ever make"

Author's commentary:I am deeply, chronically ashamed at how long I spent making the wojak in this one. I am also deeply, chronically ashamed at how little time I spent making the ace attourney edit.

Author's commentary: I never did end up finishing page 9. Maybe I will someday, but until it comes, this is all I've got:

The ending, should it ever come, is as follows:
Mcevoy violently impales the beast with his sword, after which all parties, including the receptionst, agree that that was taking things a little bit too far. As it bleeds out, the hornsog beast explains that both it and crunko were merely engaging in horseplay. Realizing the error of his ways, Mcevoy sacrifices his life essence to tear a whole through space and into the abyss to that Crunko can return, imploding himself and most of the comic in the process. The final panel is the receptionist, looking at the gaping hole in spacetime, and commenting on how hard it's going to be to fix that.
